Volunteers are invited to help with the Waiakea Lions Weinberg Project on Saturday at the Hilo headquarters of the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island.

Book and magazine donations are needed.

More after-school participants are always welcome. Club membership is $10 a year. Donations to the nonprofit youth-support program also are welcomed.

“Our suggested annual member donation is $10 per child, however we are grateful for any amount you may wish to give,” said spokeswoman Eden Patino. The organization depends upon community donations and grants to operate.

“One hundred percent of your donation stays here and is used only by the BGCBI to continue its work with youth. All contributions to the club are tax-deductible. It only just takes one to make a difference in a child’s life,” said Patino.
